Camping in general has been very popular for years, and with the rise of electric cars, folding trailers are back in the spotlight. At Jaarbeurs Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs, you’ll discover the latest releases and innovations in all shapes and sizes.
Dutch campers have been hooked on folding trailers for years, and estimates suggest there are between 150,000 and 200,000 on the road. With a “tent trailer,” you can combine the comfort of a trailer with the authentic camping experience of a tent. Add to that the fact that there are more and more electric cars and tow vehicles on the roads in the Netherlands—where “range” is the magic word—and the great popularity of the folding trailer is easy to explain.
Tent on Wheels
So it’s no surprise that there are also quite a few domestic manufacturers. This year, for example, Karsten Tenten is making its debut with a buzzworthy concept: the TOW is literally a Tent on Wheels. Karsten has transformed its classic inflatable tent into a compact, yet spacious and comfortable tent trailer measuring 370 centimeters in length, including the drawbar. Once at the campground, the TOW offers a generous headroom of no less than 225 centimeters inside.
PureCamp #ONE
Brand-new to the folding trailer segment is PureCamp, a brand founded earlier this year by three Dutch dealers acting on their own initiative. The very first model is called #ONE and, of course, can be admired in Utrecht. This budget-friendly folding trailer features a very spacious bed measuring no less than 175 centimeters wide and 220 centimeters long, while the awning (or canopy), measuring 535 by 270 centimeters, offers plenty of extra living space. The PureCamp #ONE can accommodate up to 6 people.
Holtkamper
The quintessentially Dutch brand Holtkamper is also participating in the Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs , and among other things, they’re bringing the recently completely redesigned Astro. This folding trailer has a fully modular design, allowing you to start with a solid base model and expand it as desired with, for example, an awning, side walls, the updated kitchen, and/or a kids’ tent. This flexibility makes the Holtkamper Astro a favorite for everyone—from solo travelers to families—and it’s ready to use in just 6 minutes.
Waterfront
Alpenkreuzer is another name that’s music to the ears of camping enthusiasts and has been on the market since 1958. The iconic brand has revamped its most compact model, the Waterfront, which features a frame and awning that are quick and easy to set up, as well as extra-large windows for optimal natural light. The Waterfront is primarily a two-person folding trailer, but can also be supplied with a matching side tent for two additional sleeping spots.
Camp-let and Cabanon
Cabanon has also launched the brand-new Savana, a super-compact and lightweight two-person tent trailer. The French manufacturer will also be present at Jaarbeurs Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs. The Danish company Camp-let (part of Isabella) is also joining the event and is debuting the new two-person Alba. Alongside the Earth, North, and Passion, this will be the fourth folding trailer model in the Danish company’s lineup.
