When we invented the Karsten inflatable tent in 1971, we were instantly famous in camping country. The unique inflation system combined with materials of the highest quality proved to be a hit. Many campers spent their camping vacation under the wonderfully breathable cotton or weathered the most violent storms. The oldest tent, which is still taken on vacation, is 40 years old. A Karsten Tent stands! In 2013, we expanded the tent family with a line of tunnel tents. Of the same high quality and stability as the inflatable tents, but set up with unique, pre-bent aluminum tent poles. The Karsten Tunnel Tent 2800 came out best in the ANWB storm and rain test in 2015. And that's great! Because a good camping vacation should be a carefree camping vacation.

From Frustration to Innovation In 2021, Christel Smeets and Bart Verdeijen took the plunge and started a company focused on vacation innovation. What drove them to do this? Frustration. “We’ve had a seasonal spot in Zeeland for 23 years,” Christel recalls. “And 10 years ago, our caravan was worn out, so we started looking for a new one. That turned out to be a disaster: those things are all so ugly! And why do they all look the same?! On top of that, the awning turned out to be completely uncomfortable in the spring and fall. The conclusion: we could do better ourselves!” Klapkot.nl develops and builds fold-out (vacation) homes with an innovative approach to space, mobility, and sustainability. The unique fold-out system offers a surprisingly spacious and completely single-level living area. A Klapkot can be set up in under an hour and is ready for use immediately. Thanks to its smart design, a Klapkot is easy to transport and set up—and it’s certified as a caravan!
